Saturday Scriptures #19-Revelation 19:6 God's Voice in the Rushing Waters

The Rushing of Many Waters

And I heard a sound like the roar of a great multitude, like the rushing of many waters, and like a mighty rumbling of thunder, crying out: "Hallelujah! For our Lord God, the Almighty, reigns. (Revelation 19:6)

I love the sound of water flowing over rocks. To me it is a relaxing and peaceful sound. For many years, we had a fountain in our backyard and we enjoyed so much the sound of the flowing water. It would occasionally splash out and give off a refreshing spray. We no longer have the fountain, so I look forward to hearing the sound of the stream on our property after a hard rain or the sound of a river flowing over rock when we hike in the woods. Each time I hear the rushing sound of water, I think of the voice of God. It is a voice of power and might. Just as the water that rushes over rock can smooth jagged edges and cut new paths for the river to flow so can the voice of God smooth out the rough edges of my life and cut a path for me to follow. The sound of the mighty rushing waters is a reminder to me that God is in control. "Hallelujah! For our Lord God, the Almighty, reins."

Blessings,
Debbie

Just getting back from vacation (where I took a break from technology except for taking pictures!!) and this was one of my places to catch up! I love the idea of finding God in nature. It's something that I've always done. Like you said, the sound of pounding surf or rushing water conjures up thoughts of God's might and power. When I take the time to just be quiet and enjoy what's going on around me in nature, I am always reminded of how God demonstrates His love for us in giving us all this beauty to enjoy. Sounds also serve to mask the busyness of my brain at times too. Like a rushing stream of water, or waves pounding at the ocean, sometimes we need to block out all the chatter in our heads and just focus on what is before us. Use the time for reflection and peace. I'm thankful for the beauty all around me and this reminds me to pause at some point each day and just be quiet and enjoy it!

Hi Karen: It's so good to hear from you! I've been concerned about you as I have noticed you haven't commented recently. So glad you are well and enjoyed a vacation and a break from technology. I hope that you were able to enjoy nature while you vacationed. It was so beautiful by the river on Saturday and I took several more pictures which I will share on a future post. Take care, my blog friend!!

Debbie, just like you and Karen, I really enjoy the sounds of nature, especially the sound of flowing water. It's interesting that such a powerful part of nature can be so soothing and comforting, just as God's powerful love can be soothing and comforting.
