Blue Stripes, Red Stripes and Yes A White Dress

How To Wear Stripes and White Dresses

Ok, people, my online shopping willpower has gone out the window, what can I say? I broke down after looking at so many pretty white dresses online and ordered the one you see above. No, it isn't the sleeveless long white dress I showed you in a previous post. This one is knee length and tiered with bell sleeves. It's rather full and I had to return the original size and go for the next size down. If you ever order Vasna dresses I can tell you they run big. I've already washed this one so it's mine for keeps!

I decided to belt the dress here and it looks pretty good with a belt. But, in all honesty, I think I'll be wearing this dress loose most of the time. So, where are the stripes I mentioned in the title you ask? Well, let's take a closer look at the shoes.

Yep, I ordered these striped red shoes too! I always worry ordering shoes online because I feel like I need to try them on but these shoes by Abella fit me perfectly right out of the box. I love the elastic cross pieces on top which hold the shoe on my foot without any flipping off from the back. These shoes are really cushioned on the foot bed and are rounded for plenty of toe room. And, they are sooo cute, I think! I'm wearing them in this pic with my thrifted blue striped pants and I like the blue and red stripes together. A very summery look that I enjoy wearing!

Can you tell I cut my own hair?  Well, I did.  It was getting too long and stringy looking and even though the salons are opening up here I don't feel ready to go there yet. So, I took scissors in hand one evening.

This is before.....

And this is after. I don't think I ruined myself too badly. I always figure it's hair and it will grow back!  Now, in other news....

We are having major driveway work done right now after waiting for a long time for the work to get started! I had mentioned previously that heavy Spring rains had flooded out our driveway and did lots of damage. So, we are having a new culvert installed (a much larger one) and repairs to the driveway made. We are also adding on to our driveway. It's quite a job with lots of big machinery and noise!

The Mr. is keeping a close eye on everything. He doesn't want trees or our huge rhododendrons destroyed. You can see the workers in this pic. They are doing a really good and careful job.

It's been quite awhile since my last post. I don't know about you but I'm just kind of overwhelmed by everything in the world right now and it has been hard to blog. I'm going to close this post with a scripture and the Serenity Prayer, which is always uplifting to me. I hope that wherever you are right now you are well, safe and have serenity!

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

The Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time,
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace,
taking, as he did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it,
trusting that he will make all things right
if I surrender to his will--
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with him forever.

Until Next Time,
Debbie

I enjoyed your blog post, Debbie. Your new white dress is lovely and so summery, and I especially like your new red striped shoes. I always look forward to your posts, and it was nice to be reminded of the serenity prayer at the end of today's post.

Oh my, I LOVE those shoes and the blue top. I'm not a 'blue' person but I've added a few pieces lately and I especially love the sleeves on yours. I'm old so have ugly arms and so many of the attractive tops have such really short sleeves.

I have about as much luck shoe shopping from home as I do in a store. Have a really hard foot to fit, but I love shoes and have way too many pairs. I've ordered too many pairs lately but so far they've all gone back. It's such a rough life :-)

Love your Serenity prayer and scripture. Until next time.
Grace & Peace,Iris

Oh my those shoes!!!! Why am I always drawn to the shoes!!?? Those are so perfect for summer and look SO cute with those great pants! I love the stripes on the pants and the fit. Good for you buying the white dress! It looks so cool for the warmer weather! I'm personally really glad we can shop in stores again because of the "trying on" factor, but I gave in to some online shopping a few months ago (retail therapy!)
