Feeling the Blues Summer Dress

debbiethisandthat.com
I'm feeling the blues today in a dress that is both stylish and cool for our 90+ degree heat!

When I found this dress on the sales rack at Stein Mart, what stood out immediately was the lovely blue color, the frills at the waist and the lovely shape of the neckline.

With all of these positives going for it, my only worry was if it looked to "young" for me. When I wore it last week, however, after letting it sit in my closet for months, I decided it works! The length is spot on and the dress has a built in slip and is soooo light and comfortable! I seem to be covered in all the right places, Ha!

I kept accessories simple, pairing the dress with my black Skecher wedge sandals, a black clutch handbag and a couple favorite bracelets.

I'm always drawn to blue, whether in home decor colors, jewelry or clothing. It is definitely a favorite color! So, sometimes, feeling the blues can be a good thing!

What colors "call" to you in your closet? Is blue a favorite or do you love another color better? To me, this dress has unique qualities such as the frilled waist and pretty neckline, that make it a standout. What unique things do you look for when choosing an article of clothing? Hope you'll leave me a comment and let me know. I love to hear from you. And....at the end of this month, I will be celebrating my two year anniversary of Debbiethisandthat.com. Do me a favor, would you? Let me know if you would like to see this blog continue, and what about my blog appeals to you, or doesn't appeal to you, the most. In my two years of blogging, I have focused on "a little bit of this and that" carrying that theme into a variety of posts including fashion, faith, home decor, tablescapes, books I read and more. It is a true "lifestyle" blog! So, I'd like some feedback as I re-evaluate at this two year mark. Thanks so much for reading and commenting! I appreciate every one of my readers!

Until Next Time,
Debbie

First of all, please continue Debbie! I like all of the content, crafts, decorating, fashion, recipes, all of it! You are genuine and I like that too!

This dress is great, and is not too young for you at all! I am also drawn to blue (as evidenced by my spring/summer wardrobe), and also drawn to yellow and orange. If I'm being honest, white is a big draw too. I'm all over the place, but if you looked in my closet right now, you'd think that is just way too much blue!!

I like the style of this dress, and I'm sure it works very well on super hot days! Dresses are generally good for that type of weather if they don't cling and let some air in! Please try to send some heat our way, it's struggling to get to 75 today and it's July for Pete's sake!!

I need to add how much I look forward to the Saturday posts as well. That has become a time in my week to sit and reflect on the verses and topics you write about. Please continue that too!

Thank you so much, Karen, for your lovely feedback and support! It means a lot to me to know that there are folks who like and benefit from my writing and blog. That makes my work worthwhile, believe me! There are lots of us bloggers out there and, sometimes, I wonder if I really am making any impact. Your comments encourage me to keep going! Glad you like blue, also. I think it is the cool, relaxing quality of blue that makes it a favorite color for me.

Debbie, please continue blogging! Even though I don't manage to read every blog (I seem to never get to it and lots of other things when visiting our hosting grandkids), I love it when I do. My favorite is the faith entries, followed next by book recommendations, fashion, decorating, recipes and crafts (in that order). I always get ideas. You make me think about all of these things whenI wouldn't otherwise. Keep up the great work!

My favorite color is blue, too, butI am also drawn to earth tones, particularly oranges and greens. I wear a lot of white and khaki in the summer and multi colors that go with black pants. I couldn't go to church if I didn't have black pants and skirts! You can create did many different looks, depending on the top. By the way, I agree with Karen about your blue dress. Outs definitely not too young for you and I love the color. I prefer to wear sleeves and midi length skirts, both of which are hard to find in a dress so I rarely wear them.

I look forward to more years of inspirational and entertaining blog entries, Debbie. Thank you!!!

Debbie, keep up the blog. I love the variety and gleen something from everything you cover. I especially love the faith sharing as it makes me examine my own faith and helps me grow. Like Laura, I don't always get to read your blog when it is fresh but I go back and read when I am able to.

Blue is one of my favorite colors but I am fortunate that i can wear all colors so I try to mix and match which I love about your blog. I am not as fashionable as you are but I enjoy your commentary and thought process in choosing your outfits and your mixing of different things.

I so enjoy your style of writing and find it a joy to read. Keep it up. I wouldn't change a thing.

You look so cool and relaxed in your lovely blue dress! I seem to go through phases of colour, at the moment it seems to be be pink shades that I wear a lot. Please don't stop blogging! I am still fairly new to your blog,I've been reading it for about 2 months now and I love it because you do share a bit of "This and That" with us and also because you are so much more relatable to and down to earth than many of the other bloggers out there! I love the crafts, The Saturday Scriptures, the realistic fashion, the recipes and in fact everything, so please keep writing!!

Debiie, please keep blogging. Karen mentioned in her comment that you are genuine. I agree with her that you are a genuine and authentic person, and that comes through in your writing. I enjoy reading your blog no matter what the topic. The lifestyle quality of your blog suits me well as a reader. I know it's important as a blogger to build readership. I was thinking about that this morning, and a comment from a pastor came to mind. Years ago, this pastor told me that early in his ministry, he felt that he needed to reach numbers of people, and he was always wondering and worrying if that was happening. In later years, he realized that even if he made a difference in one person's life, that was enough for him because that individual's life had been changed. I don't know if that applies to your blogging, but it helped me when I was a teacher to think that if I had made one child's life better, it was worth it. And I have to say, that your blog has very much enriched my life.

I really like your dress! The color and style are perfect for a summer day. I also like blues, teals, and greens. Since I quilt, I visit fabric shops when I can. A while back, I was at the cash register in one of these shops when the quilt shop owner looked at me and then down at the fabric I was buying. She said, "Wow, you must like the blue family! You're wearing the same color of the fabric that you're buying." I think that's a pattern with me. I am always drawn to those colors in fabric, home decor, and clothing.

Thank you, Tania, for your positive comments and for reading my blog! It's always wonderful when new readers find my blog and enjoy it! I'm so glad you are a reader and enjoy my posts. Like you, I go through "color periods" and blue is one of my favorites, but I also love pinks, as well. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

Thank you, Sharon, for your words of wisdom which mean so much to me! You are so right that rather than focusing on numbers, it is important to focus on the individuals with the differences we can make in life. Thank you, dear friend, for this reminder. Have a great day!
