What I Really Wore and Reasons to Celebrate August

Fashion Over 60 and Celebrating August

Hello everyone!  I hope your week has gone well and you are eagerly anticipating an enjoyable weekend. Today, I want to share a little style with you under the heading of, "What I Really Wore." The pink sweater and blue top you see in the above pic is what I really wore to a doctor's appointment this morning.

I am a really big fan of classic sweaters. And I discovered they are hard to find!! So, when I found this classic style in various colors at a GREAT price, I stocked up! The soft, lightweight fabric and pearl buttons may say "old fashioned" to some. But, to me, this style is comfortable and can go well with so many outfits. I usually wear a sweater of some type as I like something on my arms and these sweaters are just perfect. If you are local, they still have these sweaters at Hamrick's.

I did not wear the jeans to the appointment, but changed into them when I got home. I wanted to share the jeans with you, however, because I am so pleased to have found this pair! You all know I enjoy thrifting and I found these jeans at a new place that I just love. It is the Humane Society Shop in our area! They just moved next to Mr. K's if you are local and trying to find the shop. They offer the BEST deals on books, household items and clothing and the proceeds go to support the animals. I am more than happy to support this store! On Wednesdays, they have 50% off all clothing. The jeans would have been $5 regularly but I got them for $2.50. Oh, how I love a good bargain!! I figured if they didn't fit I would only have been out $2.50 and it would have been for a good cause but they fit really well! I've bought a few pieces of clothing from this shop now and am quite happy with my purchases and with supporting the Humane Society.

And you know who this sweet girl is!  Cassie wanted to say hello to all of you. She also would like you to know that she, too, supports the Humane Society!

Our cats are indoor cats only but The Mr. likes to bring Cassie out on the porch sometimes and let her see the outdoors. He holds her tightly when he does this. Of course, she loves sniffing the air and looking all around and then, when she is inside at the screen door and we are outside, she meows at us and tries to climb the screen door. I am not wholeheartedly in favor of bringing her outdoors to sniff the air. The Mr. and I sometimes disagree on cat parenting, lol!!

Yes, she does have him wrapped around her little paw!

Reasons to Celebrate in August

This kind of quietly went unnoticed, mainly because I forgot myself, but the blog has entered into its sixth year. I can't believe that I have been blogging for six years! The pic you see above was taken six years ago when we were out west and I was contemplating starting a blog of my own after reading and enjoying other people's blogs for so long. I finally got brave and used another pic from this same trip on my very first post that went live on July 31st, 2015! I plan to write a longer post about the blog's birthday later this month but I didn't want this important date to go by without acknowledging it. Yes, officially July is the birthday month but July 31st is ALMOST August, right?!

I'm also celebrating each of you....my very dear readers...in this month of August. After all, even though Garden is an amazing blogging assistant, I still couldn't produce this wonderful blog if it wasn't for all of you who read it and leave comments and cheer me on!

And, I have something to ask of each of you, Ok?  I would LOVE it if each reader would leave me a comment letting me know what you enjoy reading about on Debbie Styles Life and what you would like to see on the blog in the future. That will help me to plan posts in the next year.

Even if you have never left a comment before, I would like your input. If, for some reason, you don't want to leave a comment visible on the blog you can email me at debbiestyleslife@gmail.com.

I can't wait to hear from each of you!

Until Next Time,
Debbie

Congratulations on six years Debbie! Time certainly does fly. We have a Happy Tails thrift store in my area of Ohio, and I love that the proceeds go to help the wonderful animals. I used to take my kitties out like your husband is doing, holding them tight because they were strictly indoor cats. They were always a little leary, but sniffing of air was their favorite thing, along with the sounds of the birds! I don't mean to bail out here, but I enjoy all the things you post, from decorating and crafts to fashion. I have been inspired many times, especially regarding changing things up seasonally. One day I'll actually get to move in my new place (exercising faith here!) and plan to do more seasonally, based on your inspiration. My son made me a gorgeous foyer table using a piece of live edge redwood, so I'll be joining you in creating a focal point as visitors enter. I'm with you on cardigans. There seem to be more of them in the stores now, and I'm especially drawn to the longer "girlfriend" cardigans. Thank you for continuing to post...I truly enjoy reading all of your content. Oh! And I remember your Saturday Bible posts and did enjoy those too.

Thanks so much, Karen, for always reading and leaving heartfelt and thoughtful comments. I appreciate you so very much! I can't wait to hear that you have moved into your new place and have it set up the way you want. The foyer table your son made for you sounds just lovely and will be a great place for you to decorate seasonally. I'll be thinking of including more devotionals in the coming year. It was a bit challenging to sustain that on a weekly basis but I do enjoy writing devotionals. Take care and have a great week!

Congratulations on six years of blogging! I have enjoyed each and every blog post. I like that the topics are varied. It's hard to choose my favorites, but I do especially enjoy your home decor and crafting blogs. And of course, I love to read the blog posts of a certain guest feline writer!

Thank you, Sharon. And thank you for always reading and being my biggest supporter with blogging! I enjoy doing varied topics and especially enjoy coming up with home decor and crafting posts. I will definitely keep up with that! Of course, that certain feline writer will be coming up with a post or two in the future if I can pin her down long enough!

Awww, thank you Ruth, for reading my blog and I appreciate your comments so much! I will certainly continue to share about daily living, hiking, and indoor pets and outdoor animals and, of course, the little excursions we go on. Oh, I love your sweater - and you're right... nice sweaters are really difficult to find. I ALWAYS take one with me when I leave the house (I have a pretty ratty one I wear at home) and would like a larger variety.

Your kitties are adorable. How many do you have? My big Boots used to be an inside/outside but after a tangle with (we think) a coyote, he's not inside. Though he's not always pleased about that arrangement. My son did create a screened 'condo' on the deck for him - but sometimes I have difficulty getting him out to come back inside.

As far as what I'd like to see on your blog - I love the diversity you have right now. Some fashion, some garden, some animal, some decorating.... I enjoy it all. Keep up the good work.
