A New Magical Cats Book Review

A Tale of Two Kitties

Looking for a good book to read? I've got a great recommendation for you today! Sofie Kelly's latest book in her Magical Cat Series is a great way to spend some reading hours!

I tried really hard to convince myself to wait until,  "A Tale of Two Kitties," comes out in paperback. But, I just couldn't wait and so "Santa" gave it to me for Christmas. The usual cast of characters are in this book, the usual mysterious death occurs, which Kathleen and her cute detective boyfriend, Marcus, work together to solve, and you also learn more about the history of how those two magical felines, who walk through doors and disappear at will, Owen and Hercules, came to live with Kathleen. To be honest, I'm still reading the book but enjoying it so much I wanted to go ahead and share it with you!

Sophie Kelly's Magical Cat Series is the right mix of mystery, interesting characters that reappear in each book and "gentle" romance (i.e. no gratuitous bedroom scenes) that I enjoy. I was a little surprised at the hardback edition. I'm fairly sure that her other books have always printed first in paperback. I don't recall seeing them in hardback before, at least. How cute is this hot pad that one of my sisters gave me as part of a "tea theme" Christmas present?! The C.S. Lewis quote sums up exactly how I feel about tea and reading!

And, look at the material on this darling tote bag that my friend, Sharon, made for me!  Books and cats....she knows me well!  I just love it.  Now, you are reading Sharon's blog stitchingstoriesbysharon.blogspot.com right??? (I know you are!)

What are you reading right now? Have you read any of the Magical Cat Series yet?  Hope you'll take a moment to share!

Until Next Time,
Debbie

My mom has every one of the Lillian Braun books (cat series) and is looking for more. I'm wondering if she'd like these. She is particular about what she reads in this genre, can't have any bad language, no sex or anything getting close to that, animals can't die. Do you think these books fit the bill? I'd love to get her started on a new series. I found one but it didn't meet the criteria as she read through, so that series was out. That tote bag is so cute! I sewed my mom a 'cats in Santa hats' pillow for Christmas and think a tote bag might have to be next after seeing this one!

Hi Karen: That pillow you made for your mom sounds so cute! I do love my tote bag. While I can't say for certain that your mom would like the Magical Cat Series, I can tell you that I haven't encountered bad language or sex in these books. There is a romance that develops between Kathleen and Marcus but they don't spend nights together. (There is light kissing) The "magic" part of the cats is that Kathleen discovers that Hercules can walk through doors and Owen can disappear and reappear. She keeps this a secret and the cats usually only use their special abilities in the context of helping her solve a mystery. So, it's not witchy stuff at all. Kathleen really doesn't understand how the cats came to have this ability other than they were part of a feral cat colony at an old house where she helps to feed the cats. Although the main character ages are not mentioned, I'm guessing they are in their early thirties. However, many minor characters are older and that adds to the enjoyment of reading these books for me. I don't like to read books anymore that only have 20 something characters. Guess that's part of my aging! Let me know if you decide to get her a book in this series and let me know if she likes it. Have a great day!

Thank you Debbie! I think I might just give these a try! If she doesn't like it, she can stop reading, right? It sounds like a fun kind of a book, something to get caught up in!
