Weekend Inspiration Pressing On

Pressing On To Know The Lord

Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.” Hosea 6:3

I am challenged some weeks to write a devotional that I feel will be meaningful to those who read it. I often wait for inspiration and sometimes it comes and sometimes it doesn't. During these "dry" times of inspiration, I often look to what is happening around me and look for a scripture that matches. Last night, I was awakened in the middle of the night by a
thunderstorm. These Spring rains are so essential to water our earth and bring forth the blooms we all look forward to this time of year. In between booms of thunder I could hear the rain pouring down. This morning I awoke to sunshine after the rain. Everything is fresh and green. The storm served a purpose. As a child, I feared thunderstorms greatly. As an adult, I still don't love them, but I understand them and their purpose. My favorite part, though, is seeing the sunshine that follows. The sun may shine immediately following the storm, or it may take a few days. But, I know eventually it will come. As surely as the Lord will come to us. In fact, the Lord never leaves us but is with us always, as close as our very breath. Whether it is storming or sunny, we know the Lord is present with us. Thanks be to God.

Blessings,
Debbie

It's interesting how some things in life just tie together. This morning at the church service I attended, there were several references to rain and how going through cloudy times allows us to appreciate the sunshine in our lives. Then I came home to read your weekend inspiration which had a similar message. You may have some "dry" times of inspiration, but it seems to me that you still write what others need to hear. Thanks, Debbie.

So true Debbie! Sunshine after the storm. Sometimes it takes a long, long time, but it comes. It's all a matter of trusting in the Lord and knowing that He has brought us through before, and He will again in His time.
